Weld Inspection
Our certified welding inspectors (CWI) provide thorough examination of welds to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards including AWS, ASME, CSA, and API. We perform visual weld inspection, dimensional checks, and documentation to support your quality management system. In-process and final inspection services are available for structural steel, pressure vessels, pipelines, and fabricated components.
- Visual Weld Inspection (VT) – Systematic examination of welds for surface discontinuities, dimensional conformance, and workmanship.
- In-Process Inspection – Monitoring of fit-up, preheat, interpass temperature, and welding parameters during fabrication.
- Final Acceptance Inspection – Comprehensive review of completed welds against applicable code acceptance criteria.
- Documentation & Reporting – Detailed inspection records, non-conformance reports, and certificate of conformance as required.
Pressure Vessel & Piping Inspection
Elander Inspections provides inspection services for pressure vessels, boilers, and piping systems in accordance with ASME, ABSA, and other applicable codes. Our inspectors are experienced in new construction inspection as well as in-service inspection to assess fitness for continued service and identify areas requiring maintenance or repair.
- New Construction Inspection – Code-compliant inspection during fabrication and at final acceptance for pressure-retaining equipment.
- In-Service Inspection – Assessment of existing vessels and piping for corrosion, erosion, and other degradation mechanisms.
- Fitness-for-Service Evaluation – Engineering assessment to determine whether equipment with identified flaws can continue safe operation.
- Thickness Surveys – Systematic ultrasonic thickness measurements to monitor wall loss and remaining life.
Structural Steel Inspection
We provide inspection services for structural steel fabrication and erection, ensuring compliance with CSA W47.1, CSA W59, AISC, and project-specific quality requirements. Our inspectors work with fabricators, contractors, and owners to verify that structural components meet design intent and applicable standards from raw material receipt through final installation.
- Material Verification – Review of mill certificates and material identification to confirm specified grades and heat numbers.
- Fabrication Inspection – Monitoring of cutting, fit-up, welding, and finishing operations during shop fabrication.
- Erection Inspection – Field inspection of structural steel erection, bolted connections, and field welds.
- Coating & Surface Prep Inspection – Verification of surface preparation standards and coating application for corrosion protection.
Quality Assurance & Third-Party Inspection
Elander Inspections acts as an independent third-party inspector for owners, engineers, and project managers who require unbiased verification of contractor and fabricator work. We provide surveillance inspection, hold-point witness, and review of quality documentation to give clients confidence that work is being performed to specification.
- Third-Party Inspection – Independent verification of fabrication and construction activities on behalf of owners and engineers.
- Hold Point & Witness Inspection – Attendance at designated hold and witness points to verify compliance before work proceeds.
- Document Review – Review of WPS, PQR, welder qualifications, material certifications, and quality records.
- Surveillance Inspection – Ongoing monitoring of work activities to identify non-conformances and verify corrective actions.
